Obama’s full name is Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. He was born in Honolulu on 4 August 1961. In Swahili, Barack means One who is Blessed. Barry was his childhood nickname. Оbаmа mother Stanley Ann Dunham wаs cаuсаsіаn wоmаn frоm Kansas and hіs father Barack Obama Sr. was Κеnуаn.

He was barely two years old when his parents got divorced.

Obama graduated from high school with honors and in 1979 Obama attended Occidental College in Los Angeles. He transferred to New York’s Columbia University after two years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983 in political science.  

In 1981 he made his first public speech, urging the college to support the abolishment of apartheid in South Africa.
